About The PREP School of Stone Oak

What is The PREP Schools?

The PREP School of Stone Oak is a high-quality early childhood education center focused on nurturing the whole child with an emphasis on parent partnership. We combine play-based learning, social-emotional development, and early academics to prepare children for school and life.

What ages do you serve?

We serve children from 6 weeks through 5th grade. Our programs include early childhood classrooms, a transitional kindergarten (for students who miss the September 1st  state cutoff or who want a smaller class size for their kindergarten experience), and our ZONE programs for school-age students, which offer afterschool care and full day summer camp.

What is your educational philosophy?

Our philosophy is rooted in emergent-style learning, where curriculum is informed by children’s interests, development, and curiosity. We offer structured curricula for every age group alongside meaningful opportunities for play, exploration, and hands-on learning.

How do I enroll my child?

Enrollment starts with an inquiry–whether on the phone, online, or in person, we are happy to chat! Once families decide The PREP is the right fit, we will send a quick link for registration paperwork and payment details to secure a spot.

Is there a waitlist?

Some programs and age groups may have a waitlist. We encourage families to inquire early to secure a spot by registering and paying the admissions and materials fee

What are your tuition rates?

Tuition varies by age group and attendance schedule. We have multiple options available to suit the needs of the working families in our Stone Oak community.

What does a typical day look like?

Each day includes structured learning aligned to age-appropriate, professionally developed curriculum, enrichment room experiences, outdoor play, meals and snacks, rest time (when applicable), and opportunities for creativity and movement. Our students also rotate between enrichment rooms including an art studio for those messy projects, an indoor gym to ensure our students have room to move even on rainy or hot days, a technology room where our educational based toys help our students learn pre-coding and pre-engineering skills and an outdoor classroom where we take the learning outdoors!

Do children go outside every day?

Yes, weather permitting. Outdoor play is an important part of our program and supports physical, social, and emotional growth. If the weather does not permit, we have a multitude of enrichment areas that students can visit for gross motor development and physical activity.

How do you prepare children for kindergarten?

Our programs focus on academic readiness, self-regulation, independence, and confidence. For families enrolled in our private transitional kindergarten, we provide a structured, supportive environment designed to set students up for long-term academic success with curriculum that is TEA approved and follows Texas TEKS.

Are The PREP Schools licensed?

Yes. The PREP School of Stone Oak operates in compliance with Texas Child Care Regulation and has been a licensed child care center since 2017.

What safety measures are in place?

Safety is a top priority at The PREP School of Stone Oak. Our campus features a secure biometric entry for parents and staff, all employees are background-checked, and we prepare our students and staff by practicing emergency drills such as severe weather and fire safety. Staff also participate in ongoing safety training multiple times per year.

What is your illness policy?

To protect all children and staff, we follow clear illness and exclusion guidelines. Families are asked to keep children home when sick and follow return-to-school requirements.

What qualifications do your teachers have?

Our teachers meet or exceed state licensing requirements and receive ongoing professional development in early childhood education from licensed educators and trainers.

Do teachers receive training?

Yes. All staff are required to complete a minimum of 24 hours of continuing education each year, in addition to ongoing training focused on child development, curriculum implementation, safety, and best practices.

How do families stay informed?

We use digital communication tools, daily photo sharing, newsletters, and direct communication from teachers and school leadership to keep families informed.

Can parents visit the classroom?

Parents are always welcome on campus! To minimize classroom disruption, our locations offer closed-circuit cameras in the parent lounge, allowing families to observe their child’s day comfortably while maintaining a consistent classroom environment. You are welcome to come enjoy a cup of coffee while you watch your child learning!
